Camps

The World of Squash High Performance Squash Camps have attracted players from all the corners of South Africa and as well as International players from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and as far as the USA. Focusing on training and playing on an elite level, invited coaches add expertise to the World of Squash line-up. These annual events are fully supported by the Tuks hpc and their service providers in the Sport Psych, Nutrition, Physiotherapy and Bio-kinetics fields.

Each camp’s daily programme facilitates a specific ability group and players as young as 7 (mini-SQUASHERS) are hosted for various lengths of time. Camps are scheduled throughout the year according to the squash season, standard of play and age of the participants.

International players attending a World of Squash Camp are accommodated in guest houses or the hpc lockers and their programmes are designed to meet their specific needs. The length of stay varies from player to player and players return to competitive play or their homelands to continue training, armed with a follow-up programme which includes all aspects of training such as strength & conditioning as well as on court routines.

To maintain high levels of intensity throughout every session, a number of centres are used so that players are limited to 2 – 3 per court. All the World of Squash coaches, as well as the in-training coaches (Univ of Pretoria B Sport Sci students), are active during the camps – which means that players get individual attention within the group.

Keeping the quality and standard to the highest level includes using the latest technology available. World of Squash coaches have ball machines, Footworkers, XCLR8 equipment, Dartfish Video Analysis and the Visual Coaching Programme at their disposal.

The following Camps are held on an annual basis:

  • High Performance Squash Camp – December/January
  • Easter Holiday Camp/Clinic – April
  • Pre IPT Camp/Clinic – June
  • Kick Start New Season – August
  • Summer Holiday Camp/Clinic – September and December

Camps are also tailored to individual needs and requests throughout the year.

Tours

  • INTERNATIONAL TOURS

“The highlight tour of my schools career” is how Thoboki Mohohlo SA U19 No 1 (2008) and World Junior player described the World of Squash Australia tour.

2018 sees the start of a new venture for the WOS tours as we head over to Hong Kong and Malaysia, for training with some of the best coaches in Asia. This is not new territory, as Head Coach Liz Mackenzie has accompanied SA Schools tours (as the nominated Coach/ Manager) on 8 occassions and has built up a strong relationship with Aaron Soyza –  who is based at the Nicol David International Squash Centre. The tour group will be on court for 2 – 3 sessions a day, while also enjoying the sights of the resort town of Penang during their stay.

Departure date is set for 21 September 2018 with the return date of 7 October 2018. For more info please send an email to lizmsquash@gmail.com

This tour promises to be a regular on the World of Squash calendar.
