Your Game Plan for Exam Season! 📚🎾

The mid-year exams are just around the corner, and we know the drill: your desk is buried in notes, your bedroom has become your second home.

But here’s the reality check: as soon as that final paper is handed in, our juniors are straight off to the annual Inter-Provincial Tournaments (IPT). You’ll be expected to step onto the court and play the best squash of your year.

Are you actually prepared for that jump from the desk to the glass back? To help you stay sharp without dropping the ball on your grades, here are some tried and tested tips to maintain that perfect study-squash balance:

1. Active Brain Breaks : Don’t just scroll on your phone during breaks. Use that time for a quick run, a 20-minute hitting session, or even a brisk walk. Physical movement spikes your heart rate, which sends fresh oxygen to the brain—boosting your concentration for the next study block.

2. Support Your System : Long hours and high stress can take a toll on your body. A good supplement can help ward off infections and keep your immune system from breaking down right when you need it most.

3. Focus on “SKILLZ” : You don’t need a full-blown match to stay sharp. Regular solo sessions focusing on racket work and ball control will keep your “touch” intact. 15 minutes of hitting targets is better than a week off court.

4. Fuel for Focus :  Avoid the “sugar crash” from study snacks. Stick to good nutrition—small, regular, healthy meals. This provides a steady stream of energy for your brain and keeps your body resilient against illness.

5. The Master Schedule : Don’t wing it. Create a planned study vs. break timetable. If you know you have a squash session at 4:00 PM, you’ll be more motivated to power through your revision beforehand.

6. Protect Your Sleep : This is non-negotiable. A good night’s SLEEP every single night is the only way your brain processes what you’ve learned and your muscles recover from training.

The Final Lap: The Pre-IPT sessions on 15 and 16 June are designed to be the perfect final preparation. These sessions will give you the competitive edge and fitness “top-up” you need to walk into the IPT with confidence and get those results you’ve worked for.

GOOD LUCK to all our players. Study hard, hit harder, and we’ll see you on the court!
